From Boattest.com: “Cobalt builds the R6 with eight layers of overlapping fiberglass in the bottom that doubles to 16 at the keel. They are reinforced with Kevlar and further strengthened with Spraycore. To maintain the highest quality gloss finish for which Cobalt is known, the molds are hand waxed after every other part is removed. Then the mold is reworked after every 10 parts. Cobalt wouldn’t provide specifics but said that the company leaves its parts in the mold longer than the accepted industry standard. No wood is used anywhere in the boat. The decks are polypropylene structural composite material, while the stringers are all fiberglass bonded in place with a methacrylate adhesive. The transom is also composite.”
